Purpose
The RUOK Program is a vital community safety service provided by the Parsons Police Department. Through regular telephone wellness checks, we help maintain the independence and safety of vulnerable community members while strengthening the bond between law enforcement and our community.
Program Overview
RUOK is a free service that provides scheduled telephone check-ins to ensure participants' daily safety and wellness. If a subscriber doesn't answer their check-in call, we follow an emergency response protocol that includes:
- Will Call Daily (Subscriber chooses the frequency)
- Automated Call to Subscriber (x3)
- Subscriber Does Not Answer - Automated Call to Emergency Contact(s)
- Emergency contact does not answer - Automated Call to PPD
- PPD will call and dispatch an officer to conduct a wellness check.
Eligibility
The program is available to Parsons City residents who are:
- Parsons, KS Residents (Parsons city limits only)*
- Seniors living independently
- Individuals with medical conditions
- People living alone
- Anyone who would benefit from regular safety check-ins
* Subscriber maintains either a landline or mobile phone service.
Apply, Modify, or Cancel Subscription
To subscribe to the program, update your information, or modify your call schedule:
- Schedule a meeting, request an application,
- Choose your preferred call schedule
- Complete and return the application and Liability Signed
- Emergency Contact, Next of Kin, and Key Holder Information
- PPD maintains application and information will remain confidential
- Modify or Temporarily Suspend Automated calls - Contact the PPD
- Cancel Subscription - Contact PPD
