Date Posted: 06/05/2019

On Monday May 27th,2019 Parsons Police Officer Kyle Shields conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was swerving in the roadway. The traffic stop was made in the 1700 block of Main at approximately 1:01 am.

While Officer Shields was conducting his investigation, he developed probable cause to search the vehicle. Officer Shields called for an additional officer to assist while he conducted a search of the vehicle. During the search, a glass methamphetamine smoking pipe was discovered, along with a prescription pill that is a controlled substance, two bags of marijuana that weighed over 100 grams each, and other paraphernalia. Casey Graham, 21-year-old white female from Parsons, was arrested on suspicion of Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute and a traffic violation. Graham was jailed at the Parsons Police Department and charges have been filled with the Labette County Attorney's office.

Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks says that "this initiative by officer Shields will be the foundation that the Kansas Combined Anti-Drug Taskforce (K-CAT) will be built upon. Patrol Officers working interdiction and providing information to the taskforce will give them the tools they need to build solid cases and stomp out this plague that haunts our city. The dealing of death in Parsons and Labette County will our target and the judicial system will be our ammunition."

This continues to be an on-going investigation and citizens are encouraged to "See It, Hear It, Report It." If anyone has any further information on this incident or any other criminal activity, please contact the Parsons Police Department at 421-7060 or call the Tip Line at 421-7057 or email at tips@parsonspd.com.
