Traffic Stop Leads to Burglary Arrest

Date Posted: 10/13/2021

In the early morning hours of October 13, 2021. Parsons Police Sergeant Brice Dickens was checking local storage units when he located a vehicle leaving the Townsman Mini Storage Units at 1830 S Hwy 59.

Sgt. Dickens was able to stop the vehicle for expired tags and found the driver, Christopher Hilton 36 of Parsons, did not have a valid driver's license. While conducting the traffic stop Corporal Keenan Roberts located a storage unit that had been broken into.  A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted, and various items were located that was collected.

Hilton was arrested on suspicion of burglary and taken to the Parsons Police Department. The collected items were also brought to the police station and the storage units' owner was contacted. The victim was able to identify the collected items and they were returned to their rightful owners.

The Parsons Police Department has requested charges on Christopher Hilton for Non-residential Burglary, Theft, Criminal Damage to Property, Expired Tag, No Valid Driver's License, and No Insurance.

Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks said, "this is the result of a hard-working officer making all the right decisions. This case was solved by making a traffic stop that some citizens don't like. I would like to thank this criminal in particular for proving a point for the police department; high level crimes can be solved through traffic enforcement. I applaud Sergeant Dickens and his dedication to duty."

This continues to be an on-going investigation and citizens are encouraged to "See It, Hear It, Report It." If anyone has any further information on this incident or any other criminal activity, please contact the Parsons Police Department at 421-7060 or call the Tip Line at 421-7057 or email at tips@parsonspd.com.
