Shooting Suspect Arrested

Date Posted: 04/19/2022

On April 19, 2022, Parsons Police Department Investigations Division Lieutenant Sherri McGuire was notified that David Lamont Young III was arrested. Young was taken into custody with the assistance from the U.S. Marshal Fugitive Task Force.  Young was arrested on April 19, 2022, in Cleveland, Ohio. David Young is the suspect in the March 5th shooting at the 'Somewhere Else Bar' that resulted in one man being shot and transported to the hospital.

Parsons Police filed charges with the Labette County Attorney's office and obtained an arrest warrant for Attempted 2nd Degree Murder and Criminal Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. The U.S. Marshal Fugitive Task Force was able to follow up on this warrant as Young had fled the Parsons Police jurisdiction.

Detective McGuire said, "it is great news that this dangerous felon has been captured and no one else was hurt. We now have to sit back and hope that the judicial system will put him behind bars for a lengthy stay so that nobody else can be hurt. Habitual felons are a continuing risk as they tend to victimize over and over."

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force is an inter-agency resource that local and state law enforcement partner with to track down felons who are on the run. The task force has worked with the Parson Police Department on several cases that have been successfully resolved in recent years on in state and interstate cases.

This continues to be an on-going investigation and citizens are encouraged to "See It, Hear It, Report It." If anyone has any further information on this incident or any other criminal activity, please contact the Parsons Police Department at 421-7060 or call the Tip Line at 421-7057 or email at tips@parsonspd.com.
