On June 14, 2021, at approximately 6:43 am, the Parsons Police Department received a call about a suspicious vehicle that had been parked behind a tree at the baseball fields off of Wing overnight.

When officers arrived, they were able to identify the occupants as Tyler Dwayne Vickery, age 26 of Parsons, and Trenton Daniel Holzrichter, age 25 of Fredonia. When a back-up officer arrived on scene the driver, Vickery, became spooked and sped off in the vehicle initiating a pursuit.

Officers pursued Vickery and Holzrichter down 10th Street to Grand where they turned West. The chase went West on Grand, Morgan, and Appleton to 32nd Street before turning North again. This led officers to U.S. 400 and then West. Vickery led officer towards 26000 Rd and continued West to Meade before turning North again. The chase came to end in a field near Meade and 10th Rd just into Neosho County. Vickey had pulled off the road into a field where he was apprehended by pursuing officers.

During the initial contact Officers witnessed multiple televisions still in their boxes in the back seat of the rental car that Vickery and Holzrichter was in. Vickery has a history with dealing narcotics and was arrested by Parsons Police on March 31, 2021, for an outstanding warrant and Possession and Distribution of a Controlled Substance. Vickery was bonded out of the Labette County Jail on April 12, 2021.

Officers smelled marijuana in the vehicle and Corporal Garrett Lucas applied for and was granted a search warrant for the vehicle to recover any property and seize any narcotics in it. During the search they located more illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia. The officers also found property in the vehicle that is leading to further investigations for possible thefts.

Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks said, "I cannot stress enough how important 'See It, Hear It, Report It' is to the community. This case was brought to our attention by a concerned citizen, and it led to a significant drug bust. It amazes me how far we have come as a community by working together and partnering with the each other to bring crime down. I am fully aware of the naysayers in the community that have nothing but derogatory comments about our department. They are not who we are partnering with because no matter what we accomplish as a department, city, or community they will not be happy. We are partnering with the thousands of citizens who want to have a safer community and safer streets for their children and their future. These are the people that embody the 'See It, Hear It, Report It' philosophy and understand that it takes everyone to make a difference."

The Parsons Police Department is requesting Tyler Vickery be charged with Fleeing and attempting to Elude, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Sale and Distribution of a Controlled Substance, No Tax Stamp for Sale of Drugs and No motor vehicle Liability Insurance, along with multiple traffic violations for the pursuit. Trenton Holzrichter is being charged with Possession of Marijuana.

Vickery and Holzrichter were transported to the Parsons Police Department to be held until their first appearance in front of a Labette County Judge.

This continues to be an on-going investigation and citizens are encouraged to "See It, Hear It, Report It."
