Rollover Accident in Residential Area

Date Posted: 10/19/2021

On October 18, 2021, Parsons Police Officers were dispatched to a rollover crash in the 200 block of North 29th.

The two vehicles that were involved had significant damage to them and had to be towed away from the scene. One party was transported to Labette Health via ambulance for injuries sustained during the crash.

Due to the more serious nature of the crash it is suspected that speed was possibly a factor in the root cause and ending result.

Speed surveys are in the process of being completed for areas of town that have significant auto crashes or a large number of speeding complaints. Speed surveys involve collecting a week of radar data that breaks down information on traffic volume, speed, time of day that produces a data driven report the assists police to adjust their patrol patterns to target violation cluster by day and time. These reports also validate speed zones to make sure they are correctly posted.

Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks said, "we are lucky that this crash was not much more serious or even fatal. I have assigned a Patrol Corporal to oversee our traffic safety program and he will be continued to monitor our needs assessment for future speed and traffic surveys."

This continues to be an on-going investigation and citizens are encouraged to "See It, Hear It, Report It." If anyone has any further information on this incident or any other criminal activity, please contact the Parsons Police Department at 421-7060 or call the Tip Line at 421-7057 or email at tips@parsonspd.com.
