Robbery at Dollar General

Date Posted: 02/16/2021

On February 15, 2021 at approximately 9:09 am, Parsons Police Officers were called to a reported Aggravated Robbery at Dollar General 2612 Main St. Parsons, KS.

Officers were informed that the suspect was a white male approximately 6'0" tall, medium build and wearing blue pants with a gray or tan coat wielding a black handgun. The suspect was reported to have fled the scene in an unknown direction of travel having made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

Officers canvassed the area and asked business owners for any help with surveillance footage that may have caught the robber coming or going from the location. One business owner was uncooperative with the investigation instead citing that it was not his problem and claiming that he was being harassed by the police being on his property conducting the canvass for additional information related to the Dollar General robbery.  This person later made a social media video in response to the officer's attempt at the follow-up. Other citizens and businesses were helpful and attempted to assist officers in any way possible.

Police investigators and officers are still gathering information and searching for evidence. The police are asking that if you or anyone you know has information that could lead to the capture of this fugitive please call the police department at (620) 421-7060 or the tip line to remain anonymous at (620) 421-7057.

Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks said, "It is sad that one fellow business owner in the area would not help out the investigation due to a mistrust for the police. When crimes of this nature occur, we reach out to everyone that could possibly have information to follow any leads that may come up. It is extremely frustrating for the officers and the victims of a serious crime when citizens refuse to help. I want to extend gratitude to the homeowners, businesses and anonymous tips that have come in for our officers to continue this investigation. The 'See It, Hear It, Report It' philosophy has led to more arrests in Parsons than not. The more we embrace this philosophy the more criminals will be brought to justice."

Parsons Police Detective Kyle Wiford said, "This community is too small for someone not to know who is doing this. We suspect that the last three robberies are connected and know that someone has to the have the information on it. We are asking anyone with information to step forward anonymously or not, to end this criminal activity before someone gets seriously hurt. The last thing we as a community want to see is this criminal get desperate or brave enough to kill someone or even get himself killed. Situations like this often escalate beyond control very quickly and we don't want that to happen."

This continues to be an on-going investigation and citizens are encouraged to "See It, Hear It, Report It." If anyone has any further information on this incident or any other criminal activity, please contact the Parsons Police Department at 421-7060 or call the Tip Line at 421-7057 or email at tips@parsonspd.com.
