Residential Search Provides Felony Arrest
On July 24, 2023, the Parsons Police Department conducted a probationary search of a residence owned by Trinity Dawn Pratt, 47, of Parsons. The search was prompted by information obtained during a routine traffic stop, which provided grounds for further investigation. Subsequently, during the search of her house in the 1600 block of Gabriel, officers discovered a jar containing a white crystalline substance, which field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Additionally, various paraphernalia associated with the sales and distribution of narcotics were also found during the search.
As a consequence of the findings, Trinity Pratt was placed under arrest, and the Parsons Police Department is submitting the following charges to the Labette County Attorney's Office for official charging: Possession of a Stimulant, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Opiates, and Distribution of Opiates (within 1000 feet of a school).
Trinity was given probation on March 20, 2023, as a part of a plea agreement in reference to a 2021 case for Possession with Intent to Distribute. She has an underlying sentence of 104 months, according to court documents.
Regarding the case, Parsons Police Lieutenant Kyle Wiford stated, "This investigation exemplifies an effective utilization of our resources and collaborative partnerships to effect a felony arrest. It is disheartening to witness individuals refuse to reform from prior criminal activities despite being granted probation for existing narcotics charges."
Furthermore, Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks expressed both satisfaction and concern with the outcome, stating, "We commend the diligence and dedication displayed by our officers in combating drug-related issues within our community. However, it is regrettable that this individual failed to seize the opportunity for redemption provided by the probationary system, resulting in setbacks for the community's progress. Nevertheless, this arrest stands as a significant accomplishment for the police department."
The Parsons Police Department remains committed to upholding public safety and ensuring that individuals involved in illegal drug activities are brought to justice. Cooperation from community members is appreciated, as it continues to play a vital role in addressing such issues effectively.
This continues to be an on-going investigation and citizens are encouraged to "See It, Hear It, Report It." All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
