Police Give Appreciation

Date Posted: 02/16/2021

The Parsons Police Department is reaching out to the community to give thanks to an often-overlooked city department. Yesterday proved to be a monumental moment for the Parsons Water Department. In some of the most unbearable weather this winter has had to offer Parsons city staff made repairs to a broken water main restoring water to its almost 10,000 citizens.

Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks wrote on a social media post, "On behalf of the men and women of your Parsons Police Department a big salute goes out to our fellow city team members. In the worst weather to hit Parsons in a quarter century, Water Dept. staff and other city work crews battled the elements. Their jobs are hard in the best of conditions, but in this cold, it was a Herculean effort to repair the water system. It's easy to take clean flowing water, sewer and trash services as a given. But the work behind the scenes to make these critical services running smoothly is truly a Herculean effort! Way to go team!"

There is a Parsons resident that has started collecting money to be disbursed to the city crews that braved the frigid temperatures to restore water to the city. Jeff Schibi started the GoFundMe account and has had some success in receiving donations. "This is the kind of partnerships with the community that can bring real change to the entire city," according to Chief Spinks.

We at the police department hope that other city departments know that their efforts are not going unnoticed and we thank them for a job well done.
