Parsons Shop with a Cop Event Sunday

Date Posted: 12/13/2024

The Parsons Police Department is proud to announce the Annual Shop with a Cop event, taking place on Sunday, December 15, at 2:00 PM. Since its inception in 2016, the Shop with a Cop program has become a beloved tradition in Parsons, bringing holiday joy and much-needed support to local youth and their families. This year's event continues to grow, continuing to have participation from multiple branches of emergency services to better serve the increasing number of children in need.

The Shop with a Cop program pairs children with local law enforcement officers and emergency services personnel to shop for holiday gifts, providing not only material support but also fostering positive relationships between youth and first responders. The event is a shining example of how collaboration and generosity can make a meaningful difference in the lives of the community's youngest members.

This cherished program is made possible through the generous support of Walmart, community member and business donations, funds raised at the Duke Mason Concert, and the newly established Parsons Police Department Legacy Fund. Launched this year, the Legacy Fund is dedicated to creating a lasting resource for the future of youth-focused initiatives in Parsons. For more information on the Legacy Fund and how to contribute, please visit the Parsons Police Department's website at https://www.parsonspdks.gov/legacy-fund.

Patrol Lieutenant Kyle Wiford expressed his enthusiasm for the program, stating, "Seeing the smiles on the kids' faces is what makes this event so special. It's a reminder of how much good we can accomplish when the community comes together. This event brings joy not just to the kids but to everyone involved."

Deputy Chief Dennis Dodd added, "This event is about more than just shopping; it's about building trust and positive relationships between our officers, emergency services personnel, and the families we serve. It's a privilege to be part of such a meaningful initiative."

Chief Robert Spinks highlighted the importance of the Police Legacy Fund, saying, "The Legacy Fund ensures that the Shop with a Cop program and other youth-focused initiatives will have the resources to thrive for years to come. We're incredibly grateful to everyone who has contributed to this effort and helped strengthen our community. Future charity events will be a source of income for the Police Legacy Fund and its continued growth."

The Parsons Police Department invites all community members to join in celebrating this wonderful event and making donations to the Legacy Fund to make the holiday season brighter for local families. The program embodies the spirit of giving and showcases the community's unwavering commitment to supporting its youth.
