Parsons Police Department Spreads Kindness on National Acts of Kindness Day
The Parsons Police Department is proud to announce a new initiative in celebration of National Acts of Kindness Day on February 17, 2025. As part of our commitment to community partnership and service, we will be distributing Walmart gift cards to senior citizens through the Meals on Wheels Program. This small gesture is a testament to our belief in making a positive impact on the lives of those who have contributed so much to our community.
This initiative is made possible through the generous donations received by community members to the Parsons Police Legacy Fund. Established under the Parsons Area Community Foundation, the Legacy Fund is dedicated to supporting community and youth programs such as Shop with a Cop, youth sports and future scholarship programs as well as this year's National Acts of Kindness Day. The Legacy Fund is continued by the generous donations from our citizens and our police fundraiser, the Annual Guardian of the Greens Charity Golf Scramble, held each September at the Katy Golf Course. These programs work to foster our ongoing commitment to guarding our community connections and giving back to those who entrust us to provide that service. This program comes at no taxpayer expense, but the helpful donations received.
Chief of Police Robert Spinks stated, "Our role in the community extends beyond law enforcement. Through acts of kindness like these, we work to build bridges and strengthen the bonds that make our city resilient. Every gesture, no matter how small, reflects our commitment to protect and serve with integrity and compassion."
Deputy Chief Dennis Dodd added, "Embodying the guardian mindset means being proactive about community well-being. Initiatives like our gift card distribution on Acts of Kindness Day allow us to connect with our citizens, remind them that they are valued, and reinforce the core values of Pride, Professionalism, and Dedication that drive our work every day."
This event, along with other community outreach programs, highlights the ongoing efforts of the Parsons Police Department to create meaningful partnerships and uphold the philosophy of guardianship in every action we take. We remain steadfast in our mission to be better every day and to continue protecting our community with pride.
The Community Oriented Policing and Problem-Solving Officer Mark Raney will be handing these out to the Senior Community who receive assistance through the Meal on Wheels Program that is operated through the Senior Center.
