Parsons Police Department Honors Its Veteran Employees on Veterans Day
As the nation pauses this November 11th to honor and recognize the sacrifices made by those who have served in the Armed Forces, the Parsons Police Department acknowledges the veteran members of its team who have demonstrated dedication both in military service and in their commitment to public safety. This Veterans Day, we honor these individuals, celebrating their contributions that go beyond their military careers and extend into their roles within the department and the community they serve.
The Parsons Police Department takes great pride in recognizing the following employees for their honorable service:
- Lieutenant Jason Ludwig - U.S. Navy, U.S. Army Veteran
- Detective Brice Dickens - U.S. Army Veteran
- Officer Mark Raney - U.S. Marine Corps Veteran
- Officer Sean McCullough - U.S. Army Veteran
- Officer Cory Brown - U.S. Army Veteran
- Officer Blake Sanchez - U.S. Army Veteran
- Records Coordinator Marshall Sills - U.S. Army Veteran
Each of these individuals has served their country with distinction and has chosen to continue serving their community by upholding the police department's core values of Pride Professionalism, and Dedication. Their collective experiences bring a wealth of knowledge, resilience, and leadership to the Parsons Police Department, reinforcing the department's mission to protect and support the community of Parsons.
Chief of Police Robert Spinks gave his appreciation about the dual service these veteran employees have given. "As a Blue Star family member, on this Veterans Day, I want to express my deepest gratitude for the sacrifices and dedication shown by these remarkable individuals. Their service in the military exemplified courage, discipline, and honor, and these are values that they continue to uphold in their law enforcement duties," said Chief Spinks. "Their presence strengthens our department and serves as an inspiring example of what it means to lead a life committed service. We are privileged to work alongside them, and their contributions are a cornerstone of our department's success. I have been close to the military my entire life as my father served in World War II, and I have a son currently Serving as well. This puts these veterans and their service close to my heart."
The transition from military service to civilian law enforcement is often a natural progression, as the skills developed in the armed forces - including leadership, adaptability, teamwork, and a strong sense of duty - are directly applicable to the demanding and essential work performed by police officers. There are also challenges with that transition but none that the determination of a well-focused veteran can't overcome. Veterans also bring a unique perspective and level of experience that greatly benefits their colleagues and the community at large. The Parsons Police Department remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting and valuing its veteran employees, recognizing that their diverse backgrounds and experiences enrich the department's approach to law enforcement.
Lieutenant Jason Ludwig, who served in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army, shared, "Continuing to serve my community after my time in the military has been an incredible experience. The skills and discipline I developed during my service have been invaluable in my roles at the Parsons Police Department, and I am proud to be part of a team that appreciates and supports its veteran members and works so hard for its community members."
The Parsons Police Department encourages the community to join in celebrating these dedicated professionals and all veterans, acknowledging not just their past service, but their continued commitment to making Parsons a safer and better place. It is moments like Veterans Day that remind us all of the importance of service, sacrifice, and the bonds that tie us together as a community and as a nation.
