Parsons Moms Demand Action Meet with Police

Date Posted: 04/26/2023

On April 25, 2023, the group Parsons Moms Demand Action met at the Parsons Police Department and listened to a presentation about gun safety and legislation.

Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks along with Deputy Chief Dennis Dodd, Lieutenant Jason Ludwig and Officer Mark Raney gave the group some insight into the different kinds of weapons and ammo that are used in law enforcement. They also spoke about gun violence, active shooters, and some added general knowledge of weapon systems as well as common misconceptions. The presentation focused on knowledge of gun laws and an introduction to positive legislative changes for gun safety.

Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks said, "I think the presentation was very successful. I am truly grateful that Parsons Moms Demand Action was able to reach out to us for information and make themselves more knowledgeable about the subject. I think that knowledge is key when it comes to gun safety and protecting our children and citizens from senseless gun violence. I hope to be able to partner with Parsons Moms Demand Action in the future for any safety campaigns they may have. The Parsons Police Department is also willing to present this information to other community groups as well. We are always willing to provide educational information to anyone who seeks it."
