National Drug Take Back Day
October 23rd is the DEA National Drug Take Back Day. If you have unwanted or unused medication, please come to the Parsons Police Department at 217 N Central and drop off your unused medication.
Far too often unused medication is disposed of improperly by being placed in a trash can or flushed into a city's sewer system. Over time this can cause bigger ecological problems in the community. Even though October 23rd is the national day, here at the Parsons Police Department there is a disposal bin located in lobby 365 days a year and we accept medication drop offs at any time.
Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks said "we have this available to keep the drugs off the street and out of our eco system. Children steal pills and use them or give them to friends not knowing what they are and what damage they can do. We just want to keep our community safe from all forms of drugs. Illegal narcotics usually has the limelight for press and arrest, but pills that are sold or stolen can do just as much damage to a person's health. 'Take a stand and turn it in.' We will even take your illegal narcotics just to keep them off the streets and out of our community."
The Parsons Police Departments lobby is open 24/7/365 and is always available to the public. You can learn more about our agency by visiting our website at www.parsonspd.com or following @ParsonsPolice on Twitter.
