K-9 Karim Makes First Drug Bust
On April 17, 2021 at approximately 8:08 pm Sergeant Brice Dickens conducted a traffic stop in the 1200 block of Morton Ave. Corporal Kyle Shields the Department's K-9 handler arrived as back up on the traffic stop.
Cpl. Shields recently returned from Arkansas with his new K-9 partner Karim, a 19-month-old Belgian Malinois who is nationally certified in narcotics detection. Cpl. Shields deployed Karim during the traffic stop and after Karim indicated the presence of narcotics in the vehicle Sgt. Dickens located marijuana and methamphetamine in the vehicle.
Christopher Cuddy, age 57 of Parsons, was arrested on suspicions of Possession of Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Possession of Certain Hallucinogenic Drugs (Marijuana), Sale / Distribution of Certain Stimulants, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and 3 municipal Failure to Appear Warrants.
Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks said, "This is an amazing job by these two officers. Their first weekend together on the street and they make a significant drug bust, well, that is just good police work. I want this to be a lesson to anyone selling death in our community. We are going to find you and bring you to the courts for judicial punishment. This type of bust will be more common as the weeks go on. We will sniff out the bad guys, one at a time."
