FLOODED ROADS - USE CAUTION

Date Posted: 07/16/2021

Parsons Police alerts drivers that there continues to be high water on some roadways as well as some flooded and impassable streets in town. While high water has receded in some areas, the National Weather Service is predicting additional thunderstorm and rain activity overnight and into this weekend.

Both city underpasses on Main Streets and Corning Avenue remain impassable due to high water. Avoid these areas.

Labette Creek has flooded Marvel Park which is impassable.

The area of Southern at Hwy 59 to 21st Avenue is flooded and impassable.

21st in the area of Glenwood Park and the Arboretum is flooded and impassable.

Additional streets in town have high water. Drive slowly and carefully especially during the hours of darkness. Some streets have been barricaded, but many barricaded do not have night lighting. Not all highwater areas or impassable streets have barricades - the City has exhausted those resources.

If you do not have to drive then stay off the roads. If you have to drive, then drive slowly and with extreme care.

Keep updated with your weather apps.
