Drugs Collected and Employee Arrested

On October 19, 2021, Parsons Police Officer Rory Johnson was at the Sonic Drive-in in the 3100 block of Main when he was notified about a potential drug case.

An employee showed Officer Johnson a baggie of a crystalline substance that resembled Methamphetamines. Officer Johnson collected the baggie and tested it with a field-testing kit. The substance gave a positive indication for Methamphetamines.

Parsons police officers worked with the management of Sonic and was able to determine through video surveillance that the baggie was dropped by an employee.

Nathanial Phillip Willey, 38 of Parsons, was arrested for suspicion of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Interference with Law Enforcement. Willey was taken to the Parsons Police Department and charges are being sent to the Labette County Attorney's Office.

Kansas Combined Anti-Drug Task Force Commander Kyle Wiford said, "Officer Johnson worked diligently to find the owner of the Methamphetamines and take them into custody. Even with Officer Johnson's dedication to duty, this case would never have been solved without the help of "See It, Hear It, Report It" and the police department's partnership with our citizens."
