Drug Dealer Arrested for the Second Time this Month
On May 14, 2023, around 10:53 pm, Officer Rory Johnson was patrolling around 22nd and Main when he witnessed a vehicle make a traffic infraction. The officer initiated a traffic stop and was able to get the vehicle pulled over near 23rd and Corning. Officer Johnson approached the vehicle and found the driver to be Vincent Janssen Sr.
Vincent was recently arrested by the Kansas Bureau of Investigations during the May 2nd search warrant in the 1700 block of Dirr Ave. On May 2nd Vincent was arrested for two counts of Possession of Opiates with the intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of school property, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Sale Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Use Paraphernalia, and Criminal Possession of a Firearm.
During the Sunday night traffic stop Labette County K9 Officer Tim Gilliland told Officer Johnson that his partner alerted to the odor of narcotics in the vehicle. Officer Johnson had Vincent step out of the vehicle where he refused to comply and pulled his pants down in an attempt to kick evidence that was in his pants under the vehicle. The item that Vincent was attempting to conceal in his pants was a small plastic baggie with pills in it. Officers were able to get Vincent into cuffs and a search of the vehicle was completed. This search resulted in the discovery of 4 grams of methamphetamine, 11 pills presumptive positive for Opiate/Fentanyl; 367 pills presumptive positive for Cocaine; 15 Xanax pills. All items have been sent for testing.
Vincent was arrested and taken to the Parsons Police Department. Officers have sent an affidavit to the Labette County Attorney's Officer requesting the charges of Distribution 3.5g-
Parsons Police Department Patrol Lieutenant Kyle Wiford said, "this was a great effort and an excellent job by a proactive officer. This case is a prime example why traffic stops are such an important part of a police officers job. Being able to remove more death from the streets of Parsons by a habitual drug dealer with no intentions on doing better is a great feeling. I hope that Mr. Janssen either gets that picture and finds help in prison or her decides that Parsons is not the place for him to live."
This continues to be an on-going investigation and citizens are encouraged to "See It, Hear It, Report It." If anyone has any further information on this incident or any other criminal activity, please contact the Parsons Police Department at 421-7060 or call the Tip Line at 421-7057 or email at tips@parsonspd.com.
