Domestic Leads to Warrant Arrest

Date Posted: 02/11/2022

On Saturday February 5, 2022, Officers with the Parsons Police Department were called to the 1500 block of South 25th Street for a report of a man dragging a female into an apartment by her hair.

When Corporal Roberts and Officer Dunn arrived at the apartment that was reported, they were able to speak to the renter they were initially told that the two individuals were not there but then willingly told officers that both were hiding in the apartment.

The renter went into the apartment and had the 19-year-old white female, that was the reported victim, come to the door to speak to officers. While talking to the victim, officers were able to talk to the male, who was Bobby James Duhart, black male 34 years of age of Parsons. Mr. Duhart was found to have an active Montgomery County Warrant for his arrest. When told about the warrant he tried to flee out of a second story window in the apartment. Officers were able to stop him and take him into custody without further incident.

Mr. Duhart was transported to the Parsons Police Department and processed on the warrant and additional charges of Kidnapping and Domestic Battery. The charges have been sent to the Labette County Attorney's Officer for charging.

Officers were able to talk to witnesses who had video evidence of the incident and shared that with law enforcement.

Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks said, "this incident and many like it are why the crime levels in Parsons appear to be so high. A lot of our felony level crime revolves around domestic violence issues. Those issues are hard to weed out of a community by law enforcement alone. I have always maintained the idea that we will not be able to arrest ourselves out of crime but must partner with the community to force crime out of our city. By calling and reporting criminal activity in progress and making good arrests eventually the criminal element will decide to move onto different communities to keep committing their nefarious acts. Thank you to the officers that were able to stop this wanted felon from fleeing out of the window and saving taxpayer money on unnecessary doctor expenses. Also, a thank you to the willing community members for their continued cooperation with our officers."

This continues to be an on-going investigation and citizens are encouraged to "See It, Hear It, Report It." If anyone has any further information on this incident or any other criminal activity, please contact the Parsons Police Department at 421-7060 or call the Tip Line at 421-7057 or email at tips@parsonspd.com.
