Click It or Ticket Results

Date Posted: 06/10/2020

During the Click It or Ticket Campaign recently completed, the Parsons Police Department conducted overtime saturation patrols to aggressively enforce Kansas occupant restraint, texting, impaired driving, and other traffic laws.  During the campaign, officers wrote 75 safety belt citations, and 9 other citations and arrests. 83 vehicle stops were made during the campaign. Over 60 hours of overtime was logged during the campaign to reduce vehicle crashes in Parsons and enforce occupant restraint laws and inattentive driving habits. The Parsons Police Department is dedicated to reducing traffic crashes and increasing the public safety for those who travel on our streets.

Click It or Ticket also allows the Parsons Police Department the added benefit of putting more officers on the street at a time using federal and state funds for the overtime. This benefit helps officers stop cars that have wanted subject, suspended drivers, and other lawbreakers as well as the seatbelt violations. The reality is that we are doing much more than just enforcing the standard seatbelt law, we are safeguarding our community from all kinds of potential dangers.

According to Chief Robert Spinks, "Stops and tickets are primarily meant to provide public education and enforcement to increase compliance with Kansas traffic laws.  If you were stopped, then our hope is that you learned from the experience.   We will continue to teach because, while the Click It or Ticket campaign may be over, traffic enforcement never is."

Click It or Ticket was supported by a grant to the Parsons Police Department from the Kansas Department of Transportation.
