Aggravated Assault on Main
On January 18, 2019 at approximately 2:06 PM Parsons Police Officers were called to a residence in the 900 Block of South 26th for a possible civil dispute between a separated couple.
Officer Erin Snider arrived to discuss the dispute with the parties involved. During the course of the investigation, Officer Snider discovered the matter was not just a civil dispute, but there was an alleged Aggravated Assault that took place. It was reported to Officer Snider that Christopher Jones, White Male age 42, of Pittsburg, Kansas had pulled a firearm on a victim during an altercation behind El Pueblito Mexican restaurant on Main Street.
Officer Snider arrested Jones for aggravated assault and recovered a small black semi-automatic pistol from the vehicle that Jones was driving. Jones was transported to the Parsons Police Department and charges are being filed for Aggravated Assault with the Labette County Attorney's office.
Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks said," this is yet another example of excellent police work. Other more inexperienced officers may have taken the initial report at face value and then ended the contact. Officer Snider sensed something was out of sorts and continued his investigation which lead to a violent offenders arrest."
This continues to be an on-going investigation and citizens are encouraged to "See It, Hear It, Report It." If anyone has any further information on this incident or any other criminal activity, please contact the Parsons Police Department at 421-7060 or call the Tip Line at 421-7057 or email at tips@parsonspd.com.
