Parsons Police Department

The Parsons Police Department has a rich history dating back to its founding in 1870 and the incorporation of the City and creation of the police department in 1871. Today the agency is a modern operation that serves a resident population of nearly 10,000 residents and an estimated daytime population of 18,842.

Currently, Parsons is the 39th largest city in Kansas. The community encompasses an area of nearly 11 square miles and is the largest city in Labette County.

The police department's authorized staffing includes 30 officers and 10 support staff (including our Dispatch staff). The agency responded to 29,589 dispatched calls for service in 2023. Our dispatchers received 33,459 incoming phone calls plus 2,678 emergency 9-1-1 calls in 2023. Nearly 6,000 people visit the police front lobby annually.

Serving the community requires 24 hour-a-day staffing, a modern dispatch center and a small lock-up facility. Currently, the Department has three (3) Divisions that include: Administrative Services (Dispatch, Records, Evidence and Community Service Officer), Patrol, Investigations, plus a Community/School Resource Officer. Multiple patrol officers are available on every shift and the agency aggressively pursues criminal investigations with its Detective's.

We also staff and house the Kansas Combined Anti-Drug Taskforce (K-CAT), our team that comes together to address illegal drugs and may involve staff that can include the Labette County Sheriff's Office, Kansas Bureau of Investigations (KBI), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
