Parsons Registered Offender Program completes Operation Safe Trick or Treat - One Arrest Made
Parsons, KS - As we approached Halloween, the Parsons Police Department been busy with Operation Safe Trick or Treat. Parsons PD encourages parents and guardians to take extra steps to ensure their children have a safe and fun evening. While trick-or-treating is a cherished tradition, safety is a priority, and we want families to be informed about all aspects of safety this season.
One critical note: unlike in some states, Kansas does not require registered sex offenders to refrain from handing out candy or to display signs on Halloween unless they are currently on parole. This means families should be mindful and proactive when choosing where to go trick-or-treating.
Operation Safe Trick or Treat focused on compliance of Registered Sex Offenders within Parsons, KS. The Parsons Registered Offender Program (PROP) has conducted compliance checks on all 45 registered sex offenders residing within Parsons in the last week, with 33 living out in the community and 12 living at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center. Of these individuals, one was found to be non-compliant. Johnny Natt, age 56 of Parsons, was not found to be at his registered address and was found to be in violation of his offender registration requirements.
On October 31, 2024, at approximately 1240 p.m., Natt was arrested for multiple violations of his sex offender registry. Natt remains in custody at the Parsons Police Department and charges will be sent to the Labette County Attorney's Office for review of charges.
The Parsons Police Department wants all residents to enjoy Halloween safely. Parents are encouraged to visit the Kansas Bureau of Investigation's public offender registry website (https://www.kbi.ks.gov/registeredoff.../ConditionsOfUse.aspx) to view neighborhood information on registered offenders. This tool can help you make informed decisions on where to trick-or-treat.
